Pivot Point's Desert Light

Pivot Point International, Inc., a global leader in beauty education, introduces its latest Trend Collection for spring 2014. The 2014 Pivot Point Trend Collection, created especially for hairdressers, creative directors and salon owners, offers inspiration, motivation and in-depth workshop education.

Inspiring the hair designs in Pivot Point’s 2014 Trend Collection, entitled “Desert Light,” are scenes of colors and textures found in nature that stir emotions, specifically:

  • The desert light, when day begins its slow fade and the backdrop of blue sky meets earth’s dry umber;
  • Shadows arriving in all colors at twilight, including soft white reflections from clouds and the sun’s reflective pink-orange hues, as translated into color placement and design;
  • The ridge of a dune turning russet as night falls and textures deepen;
  • An almost blackness that rounds sand, mimicked in brushed brown curls; and
  • A shock of the sun’s yellow-orange, as seen in the background, like a remembrance of the desert’s bright daylight.

Through the collection, Pivot Point takes hairdressers and their clients through this inspirational landscape that encompasses the heat, strength and mystery of strong, confident, modern hairdressing travelers.

Bringing the Trend Collection closer to home, Pivot Point engaged an alumnus of the Pivot Point Member School, Eli Mancha, to craft and color the hair for Modern Nomad. Mancha, named Hairstylist of the Year by the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) in 2011, also owns Bang Salon, in Chicago, IL. Pivot Point also brought in the creative talents of world-class hair photographer Babak, of Toronto, Canada, to capture the feeling, the mood and the professional hairstyles of Desert Light. Marta Cebrat styled the trend collection, with makeup by Fredy.

To provide literally thousands of stylists with improved salon skills, confidence and inspiration in order to better serve their clients, Pivot Point will offer in-person workshops at major industry events during the spring season. Workshops will be taught at United States events, including ISSE (January 25-27, 2014, Long Beach, CA), America’s Beauty Show (March 22-24, 2014, Chicago, IL) and Premiere Orlando (June 1-2, 2014). Additional workshops will take place around the world, all led by accomplished and respected Pivot Point educators.
